Refurbished ThinkPad T460 with 1 TB SSD

The refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad T460 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U processor running at 2.40 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of memory and a 1 TB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the display output. The chassis measures 13.35 by 9.15 by 0.83 inches.

Upgrading from a hard-drive system to this 1 TB SSD

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the 1 TB SSD in this unit removes moving parts, cuts noise and reduces power draw. Boot times, application launches and file access become noticeably quicker. The 16 GB of RAM supports multimedia editing and multitasking that would strain an 8 GB configuration. The performance jump is worth it when your current machine feels sluggish on everyday workloads.

Check memory type and wireless needs before ordering

The specifications list both DDR3 and DDR4 memory; verify which module your existing setup requires if you plan to expand toward the 32 GB maximum. Wireless connectivity uses Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 with Bluetooth 4.2. The supplier notes Bluetooth is not included, so confirm whether your peripherals need it. An IR webcam is present for Windows Hello.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0-inch ThinkPad T460 include an optical drive bay?

The specifications list an optical drive type as present, so the chassis accommodates a standard internal optical drive.

What is the correct order for upgrading the 16GB DDR3 memory to the 32GB maximum?

Power off, remove the bottom cover, release the retention clips on the existing SODIMM modules, insert the new modules at the same angle until they click, then replace the cover.

When will the integrated Lithium Ion battery typically need replacement?

After several hundred charge cycles the runtime will drop noticeably; the internal battery is user-replaceable by removing the base cover and disconnecting the cable.
