Docking Station for Lenovo and non-Lenovo notebooks

The ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 expands a laptop with one HDMI, two DisplayPort, three USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, Gigabit Ethernet and a headphone/microphone combo jack. It supports Windows 10 and Windows 7 host systems.

Plug-and-play with detachable cable

A single detachable USB Type-C cable carries video, data and power to the host, so setup requires no driver installation on supported Windows versions. The fixed cable length may limit placement on deep desks, and systems without USB-C video output cannot use the display ports.

Dual 4K or triple 1080p video headroom

The dock drives two 4K displays simultaneously or three 1080p panels, giving ample headroom for typical office multi-monitor layouts. It will not support more than three external screens, and 5K or higher resolutions are not available.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the dock is delivering 10 Gbps data transfer after connecting it?

Check the Windows Device Manager to confirm the USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports are enumerated at 10 Gbps, then run a file transfer to an external SSD and observe sustained speeds near that rate.

What cables and accessories are included in the box versus what I must purchase separately?

The package includes the dock and a detachable USB Type-C host cable; you must supply your own HDMI or DisplayPort cables for monitors and any USB peripherals you wish to attach.

Which video outputs should I use to drive two 4K displays at once?

Use the single HDMI port together with one of the two DisplayPort connectors — this combination supports dual 4K output according to the dock’s specifications.
