Portable Dual 4K Dock

The Lenovo 40B90000US is a USB-C travel dock that adds seven ports to a laptop, including two video outputs for dual 4K displays. It is built for mobile professionals who need a compact hub to expand a single USB-C connection into a full desktop setup. The unit weighs 1.00 lbs and uses 66% post-consumer recycled plastic in its Eclipse Black chassis. Buyers who require an included power adapter should choose the other SKU, as this model ships without one.

Video And Power Limits

The dock drives two external monitors at 4K resolution through its dual video ports, while the USB-C upstream port accepts up to 100 W of power delivery from a compatible charger. Without a supplied adapter, the host laptop must provide its own power or a separate 100 W or 135 W USB-C charger must be purchased to reach 65 W or 100 W pass-through respectively. Ethernet and additional USB ports share the same upstream bandwidth, so total throughput depends on the host controller capabilities.

Build And Daily Use

The Eclipse Black enclosure incorporates 66% post-consumer recycled content, reducing environmental impact while keeping weight low for travel. Seven ports are arranged on a compact footprint, allowing quick access to video, data, and wired network connections without cable clutter. The fixed USB-C cable connects directly to the host, so there is no separate cable to lose, but it also means the dock cannot be positioned farther from the laptop than the cable length permits.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the model with or without the 100 W adapter for 65 W laptop charging?

The 40B90000US is the version without an adapter. A 100 W USB-C charger can deliver 65 W to your laptop, while an optional 135 W charger raises that to 100 W.

What does dual 4K actually deliver at my desk?

Two video ports each drive a 4K display, expanding a single USB-C laptop into a twin-monitor workspace for multitasking.

Which USB-C standard limits the dock’s video and data throughput?

The dock uses a standard USB-C connection; its seven ports — dual video, Ethernet and USB — share that single link’s bandwidth.
