Compact USB-C to USB-A adapter

The Lenovo 4X90Q59481 connects a USB-C laptop or tablet to standard USB-A peripherals. Its 5.5 inch cable keeps the link short and tidy for travel or desk use. The black adapter weighs very little and slips into a sleeve or pocket. It suits anyone needing a quick bridge between new ports and existing accessories.

Replaces bulky dongles or long cables

Swap a full-size hub or metre-long lead for this 140 mm stub when you only need one USB-A port. The jump is worth it if you carry a single flash drive, mouse or keyboard and want minimal bulk. It does not add extra ports, power delivery or video output, so users needing multiple connections or charging should look elsewhere.

Limited to USB 3.0 speeds and 5 V/2 A power

The adapter tops out at a 5 Gbps data rate and cannot exceed the USB 3.0 specification. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices, but will not accelerate them beyond that standard. The short length also means the host and peripheral must sit close together, ruling out distant setups.

Questions about this item

Does the 5.5 in cable length leave enough room to plug a USB-A flash drive into a laptop USB-C port without strain?

The adapter measures 5.5 in total, so a USB-A flash drive sits close to the laptop port with minimal cable strain.

Which way round do the USB-C male and USB-A female ends go when connecting a USB-A accessory to a USB-C notebook?

Insert the USB-C male end into the notebook and plug the USB-A accessory into the USB-A female end.

Will the adapter itself need replacement if the USB-C male connector wears out from frequent insertion?

The USB-C male connector is fixed on the adapter; if it wears out the whole 5.5 in adapter would need replacing.
