Lenovo 2.5" SATA SAS 8-bay backplane kit

The Lenovo 4XH7A80455 is an 8-bay backplane kit designed for 2.5-inch SATA and SAS drives. It fits Lenovo ThinkSystem SR530 and SR630 servers and adds high-density storage capacity for enterprise workloads. New condition.

Build integration and drive flexibility

The kit installs directly into compatible ThinkSystem SR530 and SR630 chassis, providing eight hot-swap bays that accept both SATA and SAS drives. This lets administrators mix drive types and capacities without changing the backplane. It connects to supported RAID controllers or host bus adapters inside the server.

Upgrade path from smaller configurations

The backplane replaces lower-density or single-protocol backplanes, enabling a move from fewer bays or SATA-only layouts to eight dual-protocol bays. The jump is worthwhile when a server needs more drive slots or must support SAS drives for performance and reliability in the same chassis.

Questions about this item

How many 2.5" SATA or SAS drives can the 8-bay backplane kit hold?

The backplane kit provides eight bays, so it supports up to eight 2.5-inch SATA or SAS drives at once.

Does the backplane add active cooling or extra power draw that changes server thermals?

The kit is a passive backplane; it adds no fans and draws no separate power, so server thermal and acoustic profiles stay the same.

Which server chassis and drive cables are required before installing this kit?

You need a Lenovo ThinkSystem SR530 or SR630 chassis with the matching 2.5-inch drive cage and the correct SATA or SAS signal cables for the backplane.
