900 GB SAS Drive for Enterprise Storage

The Lenovo 81Y9662 is a 900 GB SAS drive in a 2.5 inch small form factor. It uses a 6 Gbps interface and 10K rotation speed with self-encrypting drive technology. The unit is suited for servers and storage arrays that require secure, high-speed block storage.

Suited for Secure Transactional Workloads

This drive fits environments that need encryption at rest and consistent 10K performance for database or virtualization tasks. Buyers who need larger capacities or a different interface should look at alternative models that match those specific requirements.

6 Gbps SAS Interface Determines Compatibility

The 6 Gbps SAS interface is the single specification that decides whether this drive works in a given backplane or controller. Verify that the host system supports this exact interface speed and 2.5 inch SFF bays before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5" SFF G2HS form factor fit my SAS drive bay?

The 2.5" SFF G2HS design fits standard 2.5-inch SAS hot-swap bays that accept the G2HS carrier.

What is the correct way to install the drive so the SED encryption activates?

Insert the drive into the hot-swap bay until the carrier locks, then enable encryption in the RAID controller BIOS before creating arrays.

When should I plan to replace the 900GB 10K SAS drive in a production array?

Replace the drive when SMART reallocated-sector counts rise or after the rated workload limit for 10K SAS media is reached.
