Ultrabook with aluminium chassis

The Lenovo IdeaPad U400 is a 14.0 inch ultraportable laptop built around a full aluminium body in graphite grey. It ships with Windows 8 Pro and a French Canadian keyboard, aimed at mobile professionals who need a light system for daily productivity and media playback.

Verify memory and storage needs

The unit comes with 6GB of DDR3 RAM at 1333 MHz and a 500GB hard drive rather than an SSD. Buyers who want more storage capacity or a solid-state boot drive should plan for an upgrade before ordering.

Thermal behaviour under load

The Intel Core i5-2450M runs up to 3.10 GHz alongside the AMD Radeon HD6470M discrete graphics with 1GB VRAM. In a chassis less than an inch thick and weighing up to 4.9 lbs, sustained workloads will trigger fan spin and surface heat rather than maintaining peak clocks indefinitely.
