14-inch Ultrabook with Core i5-2450M

The Lenovo IdeaPad U400 is a 14-inch ultraportable laptop built around an Intel Core i5-2450M processor running at up to 3.10 GHz. It ships with 6 GB of DDR3 memory at 1333 MHz and a 500 GB hard drive. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is pre-installed on the system.

HD 1366x768 display and Radeon HD6470M graphics

The non-touch screen delivers a 1366 by 768 resolution suitable for everyday office tasks and media playback. An AMD Radeon HD6470M discrete GPU with 1 GB of dedicated video memory handles visual output, while an internal slot-in DVD drive reads and writes optical discs. HDMI output allows connection to an external monitor or television.

Verify Windows 7 suitability and storage type

Confirm that your software environment supports Windows 7 Home Premium, which no longer receives security updates from Microsoft. The primary storage is a mechanical hard drive rather than a solid-state device, so boot and load times will be slower than on flash-based systems. The French Canadian keyboard layout differs from standard US or UK arrangements.
