Lenovo Legion 5 15 Gaming Laptop

This 15.1 inch WQXGA OLED laptop pairs an Intel Core i9 14900HX 24 core processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GPU. It ships with 64GB DDR5 memory at 4800 speed and a 1TB PCIe SSD. The 165Hz display resolves 2560 by 1600 pixels. Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled. It targets gamers and creators who need high frame rates and colour accuracy in a portable chassis.

Ports and Connectivity

The unit provides two USB-C ports, three USB-A ports, one HDMI output, one Ethernet jack and a headphone or microphone combo jack. WiFi 7 and Bluetooth handle wireless duties. A 720p webcam sits above the screen. The keyboard features per-key RGB backlighting. No fingerprint reader or SD card reader is fitted. The original seal is opened by engineers for upgrade and testing only.

Installation and Common Issues

Windows 11 Pro boots to the desktop with drivers for the RTX 5070, WiFi 7 and audio already installed. Lenovo Vantage handles BIOS and firmware updates. The 1TB PCIe SSD appears as a single volume; no RAID configuration is required. Users sometimes forget to switch the discrete GPU to high-performance mode in the NVIDIA control panel, leaving the iGPU active. The 24 core CPU can throttle under sustained load if the rear vents are obstructed. Keep the 0.84 inch profile clear on a flat surface.

Questions about this item

Will the 64GB DDR5 memory need to be replaced later?

The 64GB DDR5 4800 modules are soldered and not user-replaceable, so no memory upgrade or swap is expected during the laptop's life.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the i9 14900HX?

The 24-core 14900HX hits its thermal ceiling before power limits, so clock speeds drop from the 5.8 GHz max turbo once the cooling saturates.

How loud and hot does the RTX 5070 8GB get when running all day?

Under continuous load the dual-fan system keeps the RTX 5070 8GB in the mid-80s °C while fan noise stays at a moderate office-friendly level.
