Patented Thermal Design Stays Cool and Quiet

Lenovo's patented fan blades and thermal engineering keep the ultrathin chassis cool during typical business tasks. The carbon-fibre construction dissipates heat efficiently so the system remains quiet when handling email, documents and web browsing. The 17.72 mm thin profile does not compromise everyday thermal performance for this workload.

Military-Grade Build Handles Sustained Workloads

Tested to military specifications, the satellite-grade carbon fibre chassis withstands the rigours of daily travel and extended use. The cooling system maintains consistent temperatures during prolonged sessions such as video calls or large spreadsheet calculations. At 2.877 lbs the ultrabook remains portable while delivering steady performance under continuous load.

Questions about this item

How is the DDR3L 1600 memory installed in the X1 Carbon, and what step do people get wrong?

The 8 GB DDR3L 1600 memory is soldered to the motherboard, so it cannot be upgraded or replaced by the user; the common mistake is buying SO-DIMM modules that do not fit.

What maintenance or replacement will the 240 GB SSD need later?

The 240 GB solid-state drive has no moving parts, so routine maintenance is not required; replacement is only necessary if the drive fails or more capacity is needed.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the Core i7-5600U?

The dual-core 2.6 GHz processor with integrated graphics will hit thermal throttling before other components, reducing clock speeds to stay within its cooling limits.
