Lenovo 600 GB 15000 RPM SAS server drive

This Lenovo ST600MP0005 is a 600 GB internal server hard drive spinning at 15000 RPM over a SAS interface. It is built for Lenovo X Series servers and storage arrays that accept 2.5 in hot-swap trays.

Silver hot-swap tray for Lenovo bays

The silver tray slides into compatible Lenovo drive bays and locks in place for tool-free replacement while the system stays online. Hot-swap support means failed drives can be removed and new ones inserted without shutting down the array.

Verify SAS backplane and tray compatibility

Before ordering confirm that your server or enclosure uses a SAS backplane and accepts this specific 2.5 in tray form factor. The drive is not suited for desktop PCs, laptops or any system lacking SAS connectivity and the correct Lenovo hot-swap cage.

Questions about this item

What SAS speed does the ST600MP0005 drive use and what throughput does that cap?

The drive uses a SAS interface; the practical throughput ceiling is the SAS link speed of the controller it is plugged into.

What physical space and mounting does the 2.5 in tray need to fit?

It fits a standard 2.5 in hot-swap bay with the silver tray and connector aligned to the backplane.

How is the drive installed and which step is often missed?

Slide the tray into the hot-swap bay until the SAS connector seats firmly; the step often missed is pushing until the latch clicks to lock it.
