16-inch FHD+ touchscreen business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 1 pairs a 16.0" 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355U 10-core processor. 40GB of DDR4 3200 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD handle multitasking and large project files. Windows 11 Pro with Copilot ships pre-installed for professional workflows.

Fingerprint reader, Thunderbolt 4, Ethernet

A fingerprint reader integrated into the power button and a 1080p FHD IR webcam with privacy shutter secure logins and calls. Thunderbolt 4, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 2.0, HDMI 2.1 and an RJ-45 port drive up to three external 4K monitors. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 provide wireless connectivity.

Upgrades from 8 GB soldered-only ultraportables

The 32 GB SO-DIMM plus 8 GB soldered configuration removes the memory ceiling found on thin-and-light machines with no expansion slot. Buyers who need discrete graphics or more than three external displays should look elsewhere. The single available memory slot limits future expansion beyond the factory 40 GB.

Questions about this item

What does the Thunderbolt 4 port cap at for external displays?

The Thunderbolt 4 port supports up to 4K resolution at 60 Hz, and the laptop can drive three external monitors simultaneously via HDMI and Thunderbolt 4.

What are the physical memory slots and the soldered amount?

There is one SO-DIMM slot holding a 32 GB module and 8 GB soldered on the motherboard, totalling 40 GB of DDR4 3200 memory.

How is the memory installed and what mistake should I avoid?

The 32 GB stick occupies the single SO-DIMM slot; do not buy a second stick because no second slot exists.
