Mobile Workstation for Engineers

The Lenovo ThinkPad P15 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Xeon W-10855M processor with vPro technology. It carries 128 GB of DDR4 2933 memory in four 32 GB modules and a 1 TB SSD. The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 GPU provides 16 GB of video memory for certified professional applications.

Display and Connectivity Checks

Verify that your docking station or external monitors can drive the 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution at the required refresh rate. The panel is a touchscreen with Dolby Vision HDR 400 and 500 nits brightness, so confirm your workflow supports touch input and HDR content. Bluetooth 5.0 handles peripheral pairing; check compatibility with existing keyboards, mice or styluses.

Thermals and Power in Use

A redesigned interior improves cooling airflow for the Xeon and RTX 5000 Max-Q combination under sustained loads. The Ultra-Performance Mode lets the system run at higher thermal limits when plugged in, which increases fan noise but maintains clock speeds. On battery, the 16 GB GPU and 6-core CPU will draw significant power, so expect reduced runtime during intensive render or compute tasks.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the ThinkPad P15 and what must I purchase separately?

The system includes the laptop with a 15.6" UHD touchscreen, Intel Xeon W-10855M processor, 128 GB DDR4 2933 memory in four 32 GB modules, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 16 GB graphics and Windows 10 Pro. No stylus, dock or extra drives are supplied.

Should I choose the 128 GB DDR4 2933 configuration or look for a different memory capacity?

This unit already provides 128 GB DDR4 2933 across four 32 GB modules, which is the maximum capacity listed for this model. If your workflow needs less RAM, a lower-capacity SKU would cost less, but no higher option exists.

What does the 500-nit UHD OLED touchscreen mean for daily work?

The 3840 x 2160 OLED panel reaches 500 nits with Dolby Vision HDR 400, giving accurate colour and strong contrast for colour-critical tasks, while the touch layer supports direct on-screen input.
