Mobile workstation for professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor running up to 3.5 GHz. It ships with 32 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD under Windows 10 Pro. The Full HD IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with anti-glare coating for extended work sessions.

Ideal for CPU-intensive tasks without discrete

Engineers, analysts and developers who rely on strong single-thread performance and ample RAM for compilation, simulation or virtual machines will find the quad-core CPU and 32 GB capacity well matched. Buyers who need certified GPU acceleration for 3D rendering, deep learning or professional CAD should look at configurations that include a discrete graphics card.

The integrated graphics constraint

The system uses Intel integrated graphics rather than a dedicated GPU, so the choice hinges on whether your workflow runs on CPU power alone or demands hardware-accelerated graphics.

Questions about this item

Will the 32GB of memory handle the virtual machines I already run on my current workstation?

The 32GB of RAM provides substantial capacity for running multiple virtual machines alongside the Windows 10 Pro operating system.

Can I connect the 15.6" Full HD IPS display to my older docking station that only has VGA and DVI ports?

The laptop includes its own 15.6" 1920x1080 anti-glare screen; external monitor connectivity depends on the video outputs available on this specific P50 unit.

How do I verify the Intel Core i7-6700HQ is reaching its 3.5 GHz turbo speed under load?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU clock speed while running a demanding workload.
