Mobile workstation with ISV certification

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need certified application stability. It runs Windows 8.1 Pro on an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 2 TB solid state drive. NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 IPS display.

Quadro graphics and fingerprint security

The Quadro M1000M GPU supports over 100 ISV-certified applications for 3D rendering and design workflows. A fingerprint reader and secure chip provide hardware-level authentication without extra peripherals. AC Wi-Fi handles wireless collaboration while the full-sized spill-resistant keyboard includes a TrackPoint for precise navigation.

Sustained performance in a portable chassis

The quad-core Skylake processor maintains up to 3.5 GHz turbo frequency across extended workloads thanks to the workstation-class thermal design. Six megabytes of L2 and L3 cache each keep data close to the cores during long render sessions. The 2 TB SSD delivers consistent throughput without the latency spikes of mechanical drives.

Questions about this item

How long does the Core i7-6700HQ sustain 3.5 GHz Turbo before thermal limits throttle it?

The quad-core Skylake processor runs at up to 3.5 GHz; sustained Turbo duration depends on the cooling solution and workload intensity.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures during an all-day render on the Quadro M1000M?

The 15.6" mobile workstation uses a dual-fan thermal design; acoustic output and palm-rest heat rise with continuous GPU load.

Which dock or port replicator do I need already to drive two external 1920 x 1080 displays?

The system provides HDMI, Mini DisplayPort and a docking connector; a compatible ThinkPad dock or USB-C adapter drives dual FHD monitors.
