Mobile workstation for professional apps

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built for ISV-certified applications such as 3D rendering and CAD. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 2TB solid-state drive. An NVIDIA Quadro M1000M GPU handles professional graphics workloads.

Sustained performance under load

The Core i7-6700HQ operates at a base frequency with a turbo boost up to 3.50 GHz across its four cores and 6MB of L3 cache. This architecture maintains clock speeds during extended multitasking and rendering sessions rather than throttling after short bursts. The Quadro M1000M provides stable driver support for certified professional software over long work periods.

Quadro M1000M decides suitability

The NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics card determines whether this system matches your workflow because it enables ISV certification for over 100 professional applications. Buyers who need higher GPU compute performance for complex simulations or large-model rendering should consider other configurations. The 8GB of DDR4 memory is soldered and not user-expandable on this platform.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-6700HQ get when the Quadro M1000M runs a full-day render?

The quad-core i7-6700HQ tops out at 3.5 GHz and the Quadro M1000M stays within its mobile workstation power envelope, so fan noise and surface heat remain at typical ThinkPad levels for sustained loads.

What must I already own to start working the moment the P50 arrives?

Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed and the 8 GB DDR4 module plus 2 TB SSD are fitted, so only your ISV applications and licences are needed to begin.

Will my older 1080p monitors and USB 3.0 docks work with the P50's display outputs?

The 15.6" 1920x1080 IPS panel and standard workstation port selection drive legacy 1080p displays and USB 3.0 peripherals without adapters.
