Mobile workstation with Windows 7 Pro

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 is a 15.6" mobile workstation running Windows 7 Professional. It uses an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with a turbo frequency of 3.50 GHz and 8GB of DDR4 memory. The 1920 x 1080 FHD IPS display and NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics target professional 3D and design workflows. A 4TB solid state drive provides the primary storage.

Suited for legacy ISV environments.

This system suits engineers and designers who must run ISV-certified applications that still require Windows 7 Professional. The Quadro GPU and FHD IPS panel support colour-accurate CAD and rendering tasks on the move. Buyers who need a supported operating system, higher memory capacity for large datasets, or modern connectivity standards should look elsewhere.

4TB SSD decides the storage ceiling

The 4TB solid state drive is the single specification that sets the storage limit for this configuration. It determines how many large project files, models, or offline datasets can reside on the machine without external drives. If your workflow demands more local capacity than 4TB, this unit will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop ship with the 4TB SSD and 8GB DDR4 already installed, or do I need to add storage and memory myself?

The 4TB solid state drive and 8GB DDR4 are factory fitted, so the workstation arrives ready to use without extra parts.

Is the 8GB DDR4 configuration enough for ISV-certified workloads, or should I plan an upgrade?

Eight gigabytes runs the pre-installed Windows 7 Pro and Quadro M1000M drivers, but larger assemblies and rendering jobs typically need more memory than the single module provides.

What does the 3.5GHz turbo figure mean for everyday CAD performance?

The Core i7-6700HQ can reach 3.5GHz on active cores, giving short bursts of speed for geometry calculations while the Quadro M1000M handles viewport shading.
