Mobile Workstation with 128GB DDR4

The Lenovo ThinkPad P53 is a mobile workstation built around a six-core Intel Core i7-9750H processor with a 4.5 GHz turbo frequency and 12MB L2 cache. It integrates an NVIDIA Quadro T2000 graphics card with 4GB video memory. The system ships with 128GB DDR4 memory and a combined storage array of 1TB NVME plus a 4TB 2.5 inch SSD. Linux Mint 64-bit is pre-installed.

15.6-inch 500-nit IPS display

The 15.6 inch FHD IPS panel delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution with HDR Dolby Vision support and 500 nits brightness. It covers 72% colour gamut and uses anti-glare coating on a non-touch surface. Dolby Atmos speakers provide the audio output. A fingerprint reader and discrete Trusted Platform Module handle hardware-based security functions.

Linux Mint with dual-drive storage

Linux Mint 64-bit replaces the standard Windows licence, providing a ready-to-run environment for development and rendering workloads. The 1TB NVME drive serves as the boot and application volume while the 4TB 2.5 inch SSD adds high-capacity local storage for project files. The fingerprint reader enables password-less login under the installed operating system.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 128GB DDR4 RAM and what step is often missed?

The 128GB DDR4 RAM is factory-installed; if upgrading later, the lower keyboard-deck cover must be removed and both SO-DIMM slots populated evenly, which is the step most people skip.

What maintenance or replacement will the 4TB 2.5 inch SSD need over time?

The 4TB 2.5 inch SSD has no moving parts, so only firmware updates and eventual capacity replacement are required; SMART monitoring under Linux Mint will warn when wear approaches the rated limit.

At what point does the Quadro T2000 4GB hit its limit during sustained rendering?

The 4GB video memory on the Quadro T2000 fills first during long renders; once exceeded, the driver spills to system RAM and frame times rise sharply.
