Mobile workstation with six-core processor

The Lenovo ThinkPad P53 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation powered by an Intel Core i7-9750H six-core processor running at 2.60 GHz with a 4.5 GHz turbo frequency. It combines 128GB of DDR4 memory with a 1TB NVME drive and a 1TB hard drive. The 1920 x 1080 IPS display and NVIDIA Quadro T2000 graphics with 4GB video memory complete the package for professional workloads.

Suits ISV-certified workflows.

This configuration suits engineers and analysts who rely on ISV-certified drivers for CAD, simulation or data-science applications under Windows 10 Pro. The fingerprint reader and dTPM encryption meet enterprise security baselines. Buyers who require a currently supported operating system or who need more than 128GB of memory should look at alternative platforms.

128GB DDR4 memory ceiling

The system provides 128GB of DDR4 RAM, which is the maximum capacity installed in this unit. Workloads such as large-scale rendering, virtualisation clusters or in-memory databases that demand more memory will exceed this limit. No further memory expansion is described in the specifications.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-9750H is hitting its 4.5 GHz turbo frequency under load?

Open Windows Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, select CPU and watch the live clock speed while running a heavy render or compile job; sustained readings at or near 4.5 GHz confirm the processor is boosting as designed.

What storage and memory are already installed, and what extra parts would I need to add a second NVME drive?

The unit ships with a 1TB NVME SSD, a 1TB hard drive and 128GB of DDR4 RAM; to add another NVME drive you only need a compatible M.2 NVME module — no caddy or adapter is required for the empty slot.

Which display option matches the 15.6 inch 1920x1080 IPS panel with 300 nits and 72% colour gamut listed in the specifications?

The single screen configuration supplied is the 15.6" Full HD IPS anti-glare panel at 1920x1080, 300 nits brightness and 72% colour gamut — there is no alternative display to choose from.
