Mobile workstation with six-core Intel Core i7-9850H

The Lenovo ThinkPad P53 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation running Windows 10 Pro. It combines a 2.60 GHz Intel Core i7-9850H processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and NVIDIA Quadro T1000 graphics with 4GB video memory. Dual storage provides a 512GB NVME drive plus a 2TB 2.5-inch SSD. A fingerprint reader and 1920x1080 IPS display complete the configuration.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This system suits professionals running CAD, BIM or data-science workloads that need certified Quadro drivers and ISV-tested stability. The 300-nit, 72% colour-gamut panel works for colour-aware tasks in controlled lighting. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a brighter outdoor-readable display or a wider colour volume for HDR grading should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification: 512GB NVME

The defining specification is the combined 512GB NVME boot drive and 2TB 2.5-inch secondary SSD. This layout gives fast application launch and a large local repository for project files without relying on external storage. If your workflow demands a single larger NVME volume or more than 2TB of internal capacity, this drive arrangement will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop include the 512 GB NVME and 2 TB 2.5-inch SSDs, or must I buy storage separately?

Both drives are already installed — a 512 GB NVME and a 2 TB 2.5-inch SSD — so no extra storage purchase is required.

Should I choose the 16 GB DDR4 configuration or look for a higher memory option?

The unit ships with 16 GB DDR4; the platform supports up to 64 GB if you need more capacity later.

How does the 4.6 GHz turbo frequency on the i7-9850H translate to real rendering performance with the Quadro T1000 4 GB?

The six-core CPU can boost to 4.6 GHz for burst workloads, while the 4 GB Quadro T1000 handles viewport and GPU-accelerated tasks in CAD and 3D apps.
