Mobile workstation with dual storage

The Lenovo ThinkPad P53 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation running Linux Mint. It combines an Intel Core i7-9850H hexa-core processor at 2.60 GHz with a turbo frequency of 4.6 GHz and 12MB cache. The system includes 32GB of DDR4 memory at 2666 speed alongside a 2TB NVME drive and a 1TB HDD. Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA Quadro T1000 with 4GB video memory.

Suits professionals needing certified graphics

This configuration suits engineers and designers who rely on ISV-certified Quadro drivers for CAD, 3D modelling or GPU-accelerated workflows on Linux. The FHD IPS panel with 300 nits and 72 percent colour gamut supports colour-sensitive tasks without touch input. Buyers who need a 4K display, higher GPU memory for large datasets, or a touchscreen for direct manipulation should evaluate other models.

Linux Mint and fingerprint reader included

Linux Mint is pre-installed, providing a stable, long-term-support environment without Windows licensing overhead. The integrated fingerprint reader enables biometric login for faster, more secure authentication. No additional productivity suite or recovery media is mentioned in the specifications.

Questions about this item

What RAM type and speed must the laptop support to use its installed 32GB?

The system uses DDR4 memory running at 2666 MHz, so any replacement or upgrade modules must match that specification.

Will the pre-installed Linux Mint support the NVIDIA Quadro T1000 4GB GPU for hardware acceleration?

Yes, the workstation ships with Linux Mint 64-bit configured for the Quadro T1000, providing driver support for GPU-accelerated workloads.

How can I verify the 15.6" FHD IPS panel is delivering its specified 300 nits brightness and 72% colour gamut?

Use a colourimeter with calibration software such as DisplayCAL to measure peak white luminance and sRGB coverage against the 300-nit and 72% targets.
