Mobile workstation with 64 GB DDR4

The ThinkPad P53 combines a six-core Intel Core i7-9850H processor with 64 GB of DDR4 memory and an NVIDIA Quadro T1000 4 GB professional graphics card. A 1 TB NVME drive and a 1 TB hard drive provide fast boot and large-capacity storage. The 15.6 inch FHD IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Windows 10 Pro and a fingerprint reader are included.

Suited for ISV-certified apps.

Engineers and analysts running certified CAD, CAE or data-science workloads that fit within 4 GB of video memory will find the Quadro T1000 reliable. The 64 GB system memory handles large assemblies and datasets without paging. Buyers who need more graphics memory for complex 3D rendering, deep-learning training or multi-monitor 4K workflows should look at a workstation with a larger GPU frame buffer.

Quadro T1000 4 GB decides fit

The 4 GB professional GPU is the single specification that determines whether this laptop can run your certified applications smoothly. If your ISV vendor lists a higher video-memory minimum, this model will not meet that requirement. If 4 GB satisfies the spec, the six-core CPU, 64 GB DDR4 and dual-drive layout deliver a balanced mobile workstation platform.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-9850H get under continuous load?

The six-core i7-9850H runs at a 2.60 GHz base and can boost to 4.6 GHz with a 12 MB cache; sustained workloads will raise fan speed and surface temperature, so ensure good airflow around the 15.6 inch chassis.

What peripherals or docks are required to use the Quadro T1000 4 GB and dual-drive storage?

The 15.6 inch FHD IPS panel (1920 x 1080, 300 nits, 72% gamut) is built-in; the 1 TB NVME plus 1 TB HDD and 64 GB DDR4 are already installed, so no extra storage or memory is needed to start working.

Will the P53’s 64 GB DDR4 and Quadro T1000 bottleneck older USB-A or DisplayPort devices I still use?

The system ships with Windows 10 Pro on a 20QN platform; the i7-9850H and Quadro T1000 4 GB drive the internal 1920 x 1080 display and external outputs without throttling legacy peripherals connected through the available ports.
