Mobile workstation for demanding professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for engineers, designers and analysts who need certified application stability on the move. It ships new with Windows 10 Pro, a fingerprint reader and a discrete NVIDIA Quadro M620M GPU for ISV-certified workflows. The combination of a quad-core Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and 64GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz handles heavy multitasking and large datasets without throttling. Integrated 4G LTE WWAN keeps the machine connected away from trusted networks.

Dual-drive storage with 64GB DDR4 memory

The single specification that decides fit is the paired 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD and 1TB hard drive alongside 64GB of DDR4 RAM. The NVMe drive provides fast boot and application load times while the secondary hard drive adds bulk capacity for project archives. Memory is fixed at 64GB, so buyers who need more than 64GB of system memory cannot upgrade this unit. The 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution with anti-glare coating for colour-accurate review work.

Factory-assembled unit

The laptop arrives fully assembled; the CPU, GPU and memory are not socketed for field replacement. Storage bays are occupied by the factory-installed NVMe SSD and 2.5-inch hard drive, leaving no empty slot for a third drive without removing an existing one. The spill-resistant keyboard and TrackPoint are integrated into the chassis, so keyboard repair requires top-case disassembly. Buyers who plan to swap drives or add memory after purchase should verify service manual procedures before ordering.

Questions about this item

What does the 3.8 GHz turbo frequency mean for the i7-7700HQ in daily use?

The quad-core processor can reach 3.8 GHz under load, giving fast single-thread speed for CAD or compile tasks while the 6 MB L3 cache keeps data close to the cores.

How does the PCIe NVMe interface affect the 1 TB SSD speed?

The drive uses a PCIe NVMe connection, so the operating system and applications load at the full speed the SSD controller can deliver.

Will the 17.3" FHD IPS panel fit a standard workstation backpack?

The 17.3-inch chassis is built around a full-size keyboard and number pad, so it needs a bag rated for 17-inch mobile workstations.
