17.3" mobile workstation

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need ISV-certified stability in a portable chassis. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with four cores and a 3.8 GHz turbo frequency. The 1920 x 1080 IPS anti-glare display provides accurate colour for design review. Integrated 4G LTE WWAN keeps you connected away from Wi-Fi.

8 GB DDR4 and 1 TB hybrid drive

Eight gigabytes of DDR4 2400 MHz memory handles typical CAD assemblies and multi-application workflows without paging. The 1 TB hybrid drive combines spinning capacity with a flash cache to accelerate boot and project loads. Large point-cloud datasets or concurrent virtual machines will exceed the memory ceiling and require a platform that supports more RAM. The Quadro M620M with 2 GB VRAM drives viewport performance for moderate 3D models.

Fingerprint reader and full port selection

A match-on-chip fingerprint reader enables Windows Hello login without a password. The full-size spill-resistant keyboard includes a numeric keypad and TrackPoint for precise navigation. An expansive port selection drives external displays, storage and peripherals directly, reducing the need for docks or dongles. Buyers who need more than 8 GB memory or a higher-tier GPU should consider a larger workstation class.

Questions about this item

Will the 17.3" 1920 x 1080 IPS display and Quadro M620M 2GB GPU drive my older external monitor over HDMI or DisplayPort?

The P71 includes both HDMI and Mini DisplayPort outputs; the Quadro M620M supports up to four simultaneous displays, so your existing monitor will work at its native resolution.

How can I verify the i7-7700HQ is hitting 3.80 GHz turbo and the 8GB DDR4 is running at 2400 MHz after first boot?

Open Task Manager > Performance tab; CPU should show 3.80 GHz under load and Memory should read 2400 MHz. Lenovo Vantage also reports current clocks and memory speed.

Does the box contain a 1 TB hybrid drive caddy or a second RAM slot cover for upgrades?

The 1 TB hybrid drive and 8GB DDR4 are pre-installed; the chassis provides an empty 2.5" bay and a second SO-DIMM slot, but caddies and screws are not included.
