Mobile workstation with dual storage

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need ISV-certified application support and a full-sized keyboard in a single chassis. It combines an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro M620M graphics card. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes a fingerprint reader for secure access.

Sustained performance under load

The quad-core Kaby Lake CPU reaches a turbo frequency of 3.80 GHz to handle 3D rendering and heavy multitasking across its four cores and 6 MB of L3 cache. Dual-storage architecture places the operating system and active projects on a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD while a second 1TB hard drive stores larger archives. This split keeps throughput steady during extended work sessions without relying on a single volume.

Practical limits of the display interface

The 17.3 inch FHD IPS panel delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution with anti-glare coating for comfortable viewing in varied lighting. Integrated 4G LTE WWAN provides connectivity away from fixed networks, while AC WiFi handles local wireless traffic. The non-touch display focuses on colour accuracy and wide viewing angles rather than pen input, matching the needs of traditional CAD and content-review workflows.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-7700HQ get when the P71 runs all day at 3.80 GHz turbo?

The Intel Core i7-7700HQ reaches 3.80 GHz turbo under load; the 17.3" chassis uses dual fans to manage heat during extended workstation tasks.

Does the 20HK model need a dock or special power adapter to run the 1 TB NVMe plus 1 TB HDD together?

Both drives are installed internally; the included AC adapter powers the i7-7700HQ, Quadro M620M, 8 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz and dual storage without extra hardware.

Will the Quadro M620M drive a 1920 x 1080 external monitor alongside the 17.3" FHD IPS panel on older ThinkPad docks?

The M620M supports multiple displays; the 17.3" FHD IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 and the GPU can drive an additional monitor at the same resolution.
