17.3" FHD IPS mobile workstation

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a new 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor running up to 3.8 GHz. It targets professionals who need ISV-certified stability for 3D rendering and heavy multitasking in a portable chassis. The 1920 x 1080 IPS anti-glare panel provides wide viewing angles without touch input.

Dual-drive storage and security features

A 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD handles the operating system and active project files while a 1 TB hard disk adds bulk capacity for archives. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit is pre-installed and a fingerprint reader provides biometric login. The spill-resistant keyboard includes a TrackPoint pointing device for precise cursor control without leaving the home row.

Suits certified-app workflows.

This unit suits engineers and designers who rely on legacy Windows 7 environments and ISV-certified applications. Buyers who require a supported operating system, larger memory configurations, or higher graphics performance for current rendering workloads should consider alternatives. The Quadro M620M and 8 GB DDR4 limit suitability for modern GPU-accelerated pipelines.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-7700HQ runs at 3.80 GHz continuously?

The quad-core processor will hit its thermal ceiling and throttle before the Quadro M620M reaches its own limit.

How loud does the cooling get during an all-day render on the 17.3" FHD panel?

Under sustained load the dual-fan solution spins up to an audible but not intrusive level while keeping the chassis within spec.
