Mobile Workstation for Professional Applications

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation running Windows 10 Pro. It combines an Intel Core i7-7820HQ processor with NVIDIA Quadro M620M graphics for certified application performance. The 1920 x 1080 IPS display provides accurate colour reproduction for visual workflows. A fingerprint reader and secure chip add hardware-level authentication.

Suits ISV-Certified Workloads.

This system suits engineers and designers running ISV-certified software that relies on professional drivers and quad-core processing. The 8 GB DDR4 memory and 2 GB Quadro VRAM handle moderate 3D models and multi-application sessions. Buyers who need larger datasets in memory or heavier GPU compute should look at configurations with higher RAM capacity and more video memory. The non-touch FHD panel also limits direct pen input workflows.

Hybrid Drive Balances Capacity and Responsiveness

The 1 TB hybrid drive merges a mechanical disk with 8 GB of NAND flash to accelerate frequent reads without sacrificing total storage. Boot times and application launches benefit from the flash tier while the full terabyte remains available for project files. This single-drive design simplifies storage management for mobile professionals who need both space and speed in one bay.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1 TB hybrid drive or add a separate SSD?

The 1 TB hybrid drive includes 8 GB of NAND flash cache to accelerate frequently used files, so you get solid-state responsiveness for the operating system and active projects while keeping a full terabyte of capacity in one bay.

What does the 3.9 GHz turbo frequency actually deliver in daily work?

The quad-core i7-7820HQ can reach 3.9 GHz on short bursts, letting you compile code, render previews or run virtual machines noticeably faster than the 2.9 GHz base speed, then it drops back to stay within thermal limits.

How does the Quadro M620M with 2 GB VRAM perform on the 1920 x 1080 display?

The M620M is certified for over 100 ISV applications and its 2 GB frame buffer handles 1080p CAD viewports, 3D modelling and GPU-accelerated video timelines smoothly at the panel's native resolution.
