Mobile Workstation for ISV Workloads

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built for certified professional applications. It runs Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core i7-7820HQ processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz. The 500 GB SSD provides solid-state storage for the operating system and active project files. ISV certification across over 100 applications ensures stability for specialised engineering and design software.

Sustained Performance with Quadro Graphics

The NVIDIA Quadro M620M with 2 GB VRAM drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS anti-glare display for hardware-accelerated 3D workflows. Four cores reach a 3.9 GHz turbo frequency to maintain throughput during extended rendering or simulation tasks. The 8 MB L2 and 8 MB L3 caches help keep data close to the CPU under continuous load. Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 supports wireless collaboration during long sessions.

Spill-Resistant Keyboard and Fingerprint Security

A full-sized, spill-resistant keyboard with TrackPoint pointing device is designed for durability in mobile environments. The fingerprint reader adds biometric authentication for secure access without passwords. Black chassis construction houses the 17.3 inch FHD panel and comprehensive port selection for peripheral connectivity. Non-touch display keeps the focus on precise cursor control for CAD and content creation.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-7820HQ get when the P71 runs demanding workloads all day?

The quad-core i7-7820HQ reaches 3.9 GHz turbo under load; the workstation chassis and Quadro M620M 2 GB GPU are built for sustained performance, so fan noise and surface temperature rise but stay within mobile-workstation norms.

Which memory modules must I already have to expand the 8 GB DDR4 that ships with the 20HK?

The system uses DDR4 SODIMMs at 2400 MHz; add matching sticks to the open slots to increase capacity beyond the factory 8 GB.

Will my older USB-A dock and external 1080p monitor work with the P71's ports?

Yes — the P71 retains full-size USB-A and video outputs that drive a 1920 x 1080 display, so legacy docks and monitors connect without adapters.
