Mobile Workstation for ISV Workloads

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Xeon E3-1535M v6 quad-core processor with a 4.20 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB DDR4 memory at 2400 MHz, a 500GB SSD and an NVIDIA Quadro P4000 GPU. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed and the system carries ISV certification for over 100 applications.

Verify Display and Memory Needs

The 3840 x 2160 UHD IPS panel is non-touch and uses In-plane Switching technology for wide viewing angles. Confirm that your external monitors and docking solutions support this native resolution before ordering. The 16GB DDR4 configuration is soldered or slotted per the 20HK platform; check the service manual if you require a different capacity or speed.

Thermals and Power in Daily Use

The Quadro P4000 8GB GPU and Xeon CPU share a thermal solution designed for sustained workloads such as 3D rendering. Fan noise rises under continuous load but remains typical for a 17.3 inch chassis. The 500GB SSD and optical DVD±RW drive add minimal heat. Battery life varies with screen brightness and GPU utilisation.

Questions about this item

Does the box include the 500GB SSD and 16GB DDR4 RAM or must I buy them separately?

The 500GB SSD and 16GB DDR4 RAM are already installed. The laptop ships with Windows 10 Pro, a DVD±RW drive, fingerprint reader, smart-card reader and Pantone colour sensor, so no extra parts are required for basic operation.

Should I choose the Xeon E3-1535M v6 with 4.20 GHz turbo or a different CPU option for this model?

This unit is configured with the Intel Xeon E3-1535M v6 quad-core processor reaching 4.20 GHz turbo. No alternative CPU is offered for this specific 20HK part number, so the listed processor is the only version available.

What does the 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution mean when I run CAD software on the Quadro P4000?

The 17.3" IPS panel shows 3840 x 2160 pixels, giving four times the detail of Full HD. The NVIDIA Quadro P4000 8GB GPU drives that resolution in ISV-certified CAD and 3D applications with hardware-accelerated viewports.
