ThinkPad T14 with Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by a 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U processor with a 2.1 GHz base clock and 4 GHz boost. It ships with 24 GB of DDR4 memory arranged as 8 GB soldered plus a 16 GB SO-DIMM and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This configuration suits professionals who need a lightweight 14.0-inch chassis, a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display, integrated AMD Radeon graphics and a fingerprint reader for secure login. Buyers who require a discrete GPU for 3D rendering or gaming, more than 256 GB of internal storage, a touchscreen panel or a higher-resolution screen should consider other models.

Deciding specification: 24 GB DDR4 memory

The 24 GB DDR4 configuration is the key differentiator; 8 GB is soldered to the board and 16 GB occupies the single SO-DIMM slot, so total memory cannot be increased beyond this amount. Verify that 24 GB meets your workload before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will my USB 3.2 Gen1 and USB 3.2 Type-C Gen2 peripherals work with the two Type-A and two Type-C ports on this ThinkPad T14?

Yes. The laptop provides two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports and two USB 3.2 Type-C Gen2 ports, so existing USB-A and USB-C devices will connect directly.

How can I verify the 6-core Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U is reaching its 4 GHz turbo frequency under load?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU clock speed while running a demanding task; it should rise toward 4 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

Which accessories are included in the box with this upgraded unit?

The package contains the ThinkPad T14 laptop, a 65 W power adapter with 2-prong cable, and the pre-installed 24 GB DDR4 memory (8 GB onboard + 16 GB SO-DIMM) plus 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD.
