Business laptop for Linux workflows

The ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 ships with Ubuntu pre-installed, a quad-core i5-1135G7 processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD. It targets professionals who need a certified Linux environment without additional setup. The 14.0" IPS display and 3.23lb chassis suit mobile office work.

16GB DDR4 soldered memory

System memory is fixed at 16GB DDR4 with no SO-DIMM slots for expansion. Buyers who anticipate larger datasets or heavier virtualization workloads should verify this capacity before purchase. The single specification that decides fit is the non-upgradeable 16GB ceiling.

Sustained performance with 50WHr battery

Under continuous load the 11th Gen Core i5 manages thermals within the slim 0.70" profile while the 50WHr pack delivers typical business-day runtime. The 65W adapter recharges the Li-Polymer cell during short breaks. Iris Xe graphics handle display output and light GPU tasks without discrete-card heat.

Questions about this item

How does the 4.2 GHz boost clock on the i5-1135G7 behave once the laptop is under sustained load?

The processor reaches 4.2 GHz in short bursts; thermal limits of the 14.0 inch chassis mean clocks settle lower during long workloads.

What does the Thunderbolt 4 interface actually cap at for external storage or displays?

Thunderbolt 4 provides up to 40 Gbps bandwidth, supporting one 8K or two 4K displays and fast PCIe SSDs.

What clearance does the 0.70 inch thickness and 3.23 lb weight need in a sleeve or backpack compartment?

A sleeve with at least 13 x 9 inch internal dimensions and a padded laptop section will accommodate the 12.9 x 8.9 x 0.70 inch body.
