Business laptop with dual-boot OS

The Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 2 is a new 14.0 inch business laptop equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 24GB DDR4 memory and a 2TB PCIe SSD. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and Linux Mint installed side by side, allowing the user to choose either operating system at boot. This configuration suits professionals who need both environments on a single device.

Chassis, ports and daily connectivity

The black chassis measures 12.9 by 8.9 by 0.70 inches and weighs 3.23lb, making it practical for mobile work. Two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports handle peripherals and external displays, while HDMI, a micro SD reader, RJ-45 Ethernet and a combo audio jack cover legacy and wired needs. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 provide modern wireless connectivity.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

A 65W power supply charges the integrated 50WHr Li-Polymer battery for typical office workloads. The 4-core processor reaches up to 4.2 GHz under load, so fan activity will increase during sustained tasks but remains moderate for standard productivity. Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics handle everyday visual work without adding discrete GPU heat.

Questions about this item

What does Thunderbolt 4 on this laptop actually limit in daily use?

Thunderbolt 4 provides up to 40 Gbps bandwidth shared across both USB-C ports, driving external storage, displays or docks simultaneously.

What physical space does the 2 TB PCIe SSD occupy inside the chassis?

The drive uses a single M.2 2280 slot; there is no 2.5-inch bay or second M.2 slot listed in the specifications.

How is the dual-boot between Windows 10 Pro and Linux Mint 20 configured, and what step do users miss?

A boot-menu appears at every restart; you must fully reboot — not just log out — to switch operating systems.
