ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 AMD Ryzen 5 8540U

The ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 8540U processor with six cores and 16 MB of L3 cache. It runs Windows 11 Pro and uses integrated AMD Radeon 740M graphics with shared system memory. The system includes 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 256GB SSD.

Professionals needing a 14 inch Windows 11 Pro

This configuration suits professionals who need a 14.0 inch non-touch IPS display at 1920 x 1200 resolution with Windows 11 Pro and 16GB of DDR5 memory. Buyers who require a larger screen, a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen panel, or more than 256GB of internal storage should consider other models.

256GB SSD capacity decides fit

The single specification that decides whether this is the right part is the 256GB SSD capacity. If your workload demands more local storage than 256GB provides, this unit will not meet that need without adding external drives or replacing the internal drive.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB DDR5 soldered to the board be enough, or do I need a spare SO-DIMM slot for an upgrade?

The 16 GB DDR5 is soldered and the laptop has no extra SO-DIMM slot, so the memory cannot be expanded later.

Can I keep using my 14.0" 1920 x 1200 IPS external monitor with the AMD Radeon 740M graphics?

Yes, the integrated Radeon 740M drives external displays up to 1920 x 1200 over the available video outputs without issue.

How do I confirm the Ryzen 5 8540U is running all 6 cores at the correct 16 MB L3 cache after setup?

Open Task Manager → Performance → CPU; it should show 6 logical processors and 16 MB L3 cache for the 8540U.
