Business ultraportable with touchscreen

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 2 20WM0081US is a 14 inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5 11th Gen i5-1135G7 quad-core processor. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 266 memory and a 512 GB SSD running Windows 10 Pro. The Full HD touchscreen resolves at 1920 x 1080 for precise input and clear visuals.

Thermals noise and power draw

Integrated graphics keep the thermal envelope modest during typical office workloads such as document editing, web browsing and video calls. The slim chassis weighs 2.95 lbs and relies on passive convection alongside a single fan that spins up only under sustained load. Power consumption stays low thanks to the 2.40 GHz base clock and efficient 11th Gen architecture.

Deciding specification

The 16 GB DDR4 266 memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded after purchase. Buyers who need more than 16 GB for virtual machines, large datasets or heavy multitasking should choose a different model with expandable slots or a higher factory configuration. The 512 GB SSD and integrated graphics are the other fixed limits to evaluate.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the DDR4 memory, and which step do people often miss?

The 16 GB DDR4 266 is soldered to the board, so no memory upgrade is possible; the step people miss is checking that the slots are not accessible before buying extra modules.

What part will need replacement first during the life of this ThinkPad T14s Gen 2?

The 512 GB SSD is the only user-replaceable storage component; battery wear will eventually require service, but the SSD is the first part an owner can swap themselves.

Which limit appears first when the i5-1135G7 runs sustained workloads on this 14 inch chassis?

The integrated graphics share system memory and thermal headroom, so GPU-intensive tasks hit thermal throttling before the quad-core 2.40 GHz CPU reaches its own power ceiling.
