Purpose and user

The ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 is a 16 inch business laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor with 32 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD. It runs Windows 11 Pro and is marketed as a Copilot+ PC for professionals who need AI-ready performance in a traditional clamshell design.

Sustained load behaviour

The 60 Hz WUXGA IPS panel and 32 GB memory configuration support steady multitasking across office applications and video calls without throttling the display pipeline. Active cooling manages the Core Ultra 7 355 during extended workloads while the 512 GB SSD maintains consistent read and write speeds for large project files.

Interface limits

Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) provides the highest wireless throughput available on this platform, though real-world speed depends on router capability and spectrum congestion. The single HDMI port drives one external display at up to 4K 60 Hz, limiting multi-monitor setups to the internal screen plus one additional panel.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Core Ultra 7 355 produce during long work sessions?

The Core Ultra 7 355 is designed for efficient performance in the ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 chassis, keeping thermals managed during extended business workloads.

Does the 32 GB of memory require a matching SO-DIMM kit to reach full capacity?

The 32 GB is already installed and soldered, so no additional memory modules are needed for the system to run at its listed capacity.

Can the single HDMI port drive a legacy 1920 x 1200 monitor at 60 Hz without adapters?

Yes, the HDMI output supports 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz natively, matching the panel's WUXGA resolution and refresh rate exactly.
