Ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T450s is a 14.0 inch ultrabook built around an Intel Core i5 5300U processor running at 2.30 GHz. It ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit and includes an integrated webcam, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for remote collaboration. The 1600x900 non-touch display suits office workflows on the move.

Self-contained workstation

A 512 GB SSD and 8 GB of DDR4 memory provide the storage and memory headroom for everyday multitasking without extra drives or modules. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the internal panel and external monitors through the built-in video outputs. Only the supplied AC adaptor is required to keep the system running.

Steady performance under load

The low-power U-series CPU maintains its 2.3 GHz speed during extended document editing, web sessions and video calls without thermal throttling. Intel HD Graphics 520 handles desktop composition and light media playback consistently over long periods. The solid-state drive sustains read and write throughput for repeated file access.

Questions about this item

Does the Intel Core i5-5300U at 2.3 GHz throttle under sustained load?

The ultra-low-voltage Core i5-5300U is designed to reduce its clock speed when thermal limits are reached, so sustained heavy work will see lower frequencies than the 2.3 GHz maximum.

How loud or hot does the ThinkPad T450s get during all-day use?

The 14.0" chassis with Intel HD Graphics 520 runs warm but generally stays quiet; the fan spins up only during prolonged heavy tasks.

What must I already own to use the 512 GB SSD and 8 GB DDR4 memory?

The SSD and DDR4 memory are soldered or installed internally, so no extra parts are required — just the supplied AC adaptor for power.
