Purpose-built ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T450s is a 14.0" business laptop with a non-touch 1600x900 display. It runs on an Intel Core i5 5300U processor at 2.30 GHz with 12GB DDR4 memory and a 128GB SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The dual-core U-series CPU maintains its 2.3 GHz base speed during extended office tasks and web sessions. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles desktop composition and video playback without a discrete GPU. The 12GB DDR4 buffer keeps multiple browser tabs and productivity apps responsive.

Deciding specification

The 128GB SSD capacity sets the storage ceiling for the operating system, applications and active files. Users who keep large media libraries or virtual-machine images on the internal drive will need external storage. Buyers who want more storage should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core i5-5300U get when the ThinkPad T450s runs all day?

The dual-core 2.3 GHz processor and Intel HD Graphics 520 stay inside a modest thermal envelope, so the fan runs quietly during typical office workloads.

What must I already own to use the 128 GB SSD and 12 GB DDR4 memory immediately?

Nothing extra is required; the SSD and memory are installed and the laptop ships with a battery and AC adaptor.

Can I keep using my older VGA monitor and USB 2.0 peripherals with this 14.0 inch 1600x900 ultrabook?

Yes, the T450s provides a VGA port and full-size USB ports that work with legacy monitors and USB 2.0 devices.
