Professional mobile workstation

The Lenovo ThinkPad T450s is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine with a 1920 x 1080 FHD display. It ships with an Intel Core i5 5th Gen dual-core processor at 2.20GHz, 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. The non-touch screen and single memory slot suit focused office and field work.

Thermals and power in daily use

The dual-core processor and solid-state drive keep heat output modest during typical document, browser and video tasks. Fan noise stays low under light loads and rises only during sustained compile or export work. With no mechanical hard drive, idle power draw is minimal, supporting longer unplugged sessions.

Upgrade path and fit

This unit replaces an older hard-drive laptop or a smaller-screen ultraportable when a 14.0-inch FHD panel and 256GB of solid-state storage are required. The single memory slot limits RAM expansion to one module, so buyers who need more than 8GB should consider a different chassis. The Mini DisplayPort supports one external monitor for desk docking.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD and what step do people miss?

The 256GB SSD is already installed; if replacing it, remove the bottom cover, swap the drive, then restore Windows 10 Pro from the hard-disk recovery image — skipping the restore leaves the OS missing.

What maintenance will the 8GB RAM need later?

The 8GB memory is soldered with only one slot total, so it cannot be upgraded; keep vents clear and repaste the CPU if temperatures rise under sustained load.

What limit appears first during sustained use on the Intel Core i5 5th Gen 2.20GHz?

Thermal throttling on the dual-core processor typically caps performance before the 256GB SSD or 8GB RAM become bottlenecks.
