Ready-to-deploy business laptop

The ThinkPad T460 arrives with a 14.0 inch HD panel at 1366 x 768, a dual-core i5-6300U running at 2.40 GHz with a 3.00 GHz turbo, and 16 GB of DDR3 already installed. It ships without an operating system so IT teams can image their standard build immediately.

Fresh M.2 NVMe storage

A new 500 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe drive replaces any older mechanical disk, cutting boot and application load times while adding a full year of parts-and-labour coverage. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the non-touch display and external monitors through the onboard video outputs.

Memory headroom to 32 GB

Two SODIMM slots support up to 32 GB total, letting you double the factory 16 GB when workloads demand it. The 500 GB SSD handles the OS, core apps and active project files comfortably; archival data or large media libraries will need external or cloud storage.

Questions about this item

Can the 16GB DDR3 be upgraded if I need more memory later?

The laptop has two memory slots and supports up to 32GB total, so you can add another DDR3 module or replace both.

Will the Intel Core i5-6300U throttle at its 3.00 GHz turbo during long workloads?

Sustained turbo depends on the cooling solution; the dual-core 2.40 GHz base clock is the guaranteed long-run speed.

How loud does the fan get when the Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 panel all day?

Fan noise varies with load; light desktop use on the HD display stays quiet, while heavier GPU tasks spin the fan higher.
