ThinkPad T460s for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460s is a 14.0-inch laptop built for everyday business use. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6600U processor with a 2.6GHz base clock and 3.4GHz Turbo Boost. The system includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB solid-state drive. A 1920x1080 IPS display and 720p webcam support clear video calls.

Sustained performance with integrated graphics

Under continuous load the dual-core i7-6600U maintains operation within its thermal envelope without a discrete GPU. Intel HD Graphics 520 handles desktop rendering and video playback while the SSD keeps data throughput steady. The Opal2-capable drive supports hardware encryption during long sessions. Fan noise remains present but consistent during extended productivity workloads.

Upgrade from slower storage or less memory

This unit replaces a laptop that relies on a mechanical hard drive or offers only 4GB of RAM. The 256GB SSD cuts boot and application launch times compared to spinning media. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 allows more browser tabs and documents to stay open simultaneously. Buyers who want more storage capacity or a pristine cosmetic exterior should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How much fan noise and heat does the Core i7-6600U generate during all-day use?

The 2.6 GHz base clock and 3.4 GHz Turbo Boost on this dual-core processor keep heat moderate; the solid-state drive eliminates hard-drive noise entirely.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to start working?

Only the supplied AC adapter is essential; the 14.0-inch 1920x1080 IPS panel, 720p webcam, 8 GB DDR4 and 256 GB Opal2 SSD are built in.

Will the Intel HD Graphics 520 drive my older 1080p monitor without issues?

Yes, the integrated 520 graphics natively supports 1920x1080 output, so a legacy 1080p display connects and runs at its native resolution.
