Business ultraportable with LTE

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is a 14-inch business laptop built for mobile professionals who need reliable connectivity. It ships new with Windows 7 Professional and includes an integrated LTE-A WWAN card for cellular data on the go. The matte IPS display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution in a compact chassis weighing between 2 and 2.9 lbs.

Suits frequent travellers, not heavy creators

This configuration suits users who prioritise all-day battery life, durable construction, and always-connected internet access over raw graphics power. The 12GB DDR4 memory and 512GB SSD handle office multitasking smoothly. Buyers who need discrete graphics for video editing, 3D rendering, or modern gaming should look at something else.

Simple setup with driver considerations

Initial setup is straightforward: power on, accept the Windows 7 licence, and the UltraNav pointing devices work immediately. The Thunderbolt 3 port supports high-speed docks and external displays without extra configuration. The main friction point is Windows 7 end-of-life; you must install security updates and modern browser alternatives manually before connecting to sensitive networks.

Questions about this item

Will my existing DDR4 SODIMM modules work alongside the 12GB already installed?

The laptop uses DDR4 memory and ships with 12GB; any additional SODIMM must match DDR4 type and the system's maximum supported capacity.

Can I connect my older USB 3.0 peripherals to the Thunderbolt 3 port on this T470s?

Yes, the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port is backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices, though they will run at USB 3.0 speeds rather than the 40 Gbps Thunderbolt maximum.

How can I verify the LTE-A WWAN card is active after I insert a SIM?

Open Windows 7 Pro network settings; the WWAN adapter should appear with signal bars and carrier name once the SIM is recognised and the radio is enabled.
