Business ultraportable with LTE

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is a 14.0" laptop built for mobile professionals who need reliable connectivity away from Wi-Fi. It runs Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core i5-6300U processor with 20GB of DDR4 memory. A 1TB SSD provides fast storage for large project files and applications. Integrated LTE-A WWAN keeps the system online wherever a cellular signal exists.

Thermals and power in daily use

The ultra-low-voltage processor draws minimal power during typical office workloads, helping the chassis stay cool and quiet. Fan noise remains low when browsing, editing documents or streaming video over the LTE link. The solid-state drive eliminates mechanical vibration and contributes to the system's all-day battery life claim.

Build integration and expandability

Thunderbolt over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth for docks, external storage or dual 4K displays without proprietary connectors. Four USB ports and Bluetooth 4.1 handle legacy peripherals and wireless accessories simultaneously. The 1920 x 1080 IPS matte panel reduces glare in bright environments. A fingerprint reader and 12 military-grade durability tests support secure deployment in field conditions.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DDR4 memory in the T470s, and what step do people miss?

The 20 GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-upgradable; the step people miss is checking that no SO-DIMM slot exists before buying extra sticks.

What maintenance or replacement will the LTE-A WWAN card need later?

The LTE-A WWAN card uses a nano-SIM slot accessible under the bottom cover; only the SIM may need swapping when changing carriers.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the i5-6300U?

The 3.0 GHz turbo clock drops once the cooling assembly reaches its thermal ceiling, limiting long-duration performance.
