Business ultraportable with LTE

The ThinkPad T470s is a 14.0" business laptop running Windows 10 Pro. An Intel Core i7-7500U processor reaches 3.5GHz, supported by 24GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Integrated LTE-A WWAN keeps the system online away from Wi-Fi.

WQHD display and security hardware

The 2560x1440 IPS matte panel shows fine detail without glare. A fingerprint reader and smart card reader add hardware authentication for corporate environments. Four USB ports and Bluetooth 4.1 handle peripherals while Thunderbolt 3 provides 40 Gbps expansion.

Soldered memory limits upgrades

The 24GB DDR4 configuration uses soldered modules that cannot be increased later. Buyers who need more memory must choose a different platform. The 256GB NVMe drive is replaceable, but the 12 military-grade tests and 2.9 lbs weight reflect the sealed ultraportable design.

Questions about this item

Can the 24GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The 24GB DDR4 configuration fills the available slots, so no further memory expansion is possible on this T470s.

What limits sustained performance on the Core i7-7500U?

The dual-core 3.5GHz processor will hit its thermal ceiling first during prolonged heavy workloads.

How loud and hot does the T470s get when running all day?

The 14" WQHD chassis uses a single fan; under continuous load the keyboard deck warms noticeably and fan noise rises to an audible level.
