ThinkPad T480s with 8th-gen Core i5

The ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8250U processor that reaches 3.4 GHz. It ships with Windows 7 Professional, 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 500 GB solid-state drive. The matte IPS panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input.

MIL-SPEC tested chassis with Thunderbolt 3

The laptop passes 21 MIL-SPEC tests for durability in harsh environments. A match-on-chip fingerprint reader and a physical webcam shutter protect data and privacy. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth for docks, storage and external displays. Bluetooth 4.1 handles wireless peripherals.

Upgrade from older ultraportables lacking

The combination of Thunderbolt 3, a 500 GB SSD and 8 GB of DDR4 memory removes bottlenecks common in earlier thin-and-light models. Buyers who need a larger internal drive or more than 8 GB of soldered memory should look elsewhere. The 14.0-inch form factor stays under 2.9 lbs for frequent travel.
