Suited for Secure Mobile Workflows

This configuration suits professionals who need a lightweight chassis tested against 21 MIL-SPEC standards, a match-on-chip fingerprint reader and a physical webcam privacy shutter. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C provides 40 Gbps bandwidth for docks and external displays. Buyers who require a touchscreen, a dedicated GPU or a newer Windows version should consider other options.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS

The decisive specification is the factory-installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system. It determines software compatibility and security-update status for organisations maintaining legacy application environments. Verify that your required applications and IT policies support this OS before purchase.

Questions about this item

How hot and loud does the i7-8550U get during all-day workloads?

The 8th-generation Core i7-8550U runs at 1.80 GHz base and up to 4.00 GHz turbo inside a 14.0" chassis tested to 21 MIL-SPEC standards, so sustained loads stay within the thermal envelope of a 2.9 lb ultraportable.

Which cables or docks must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port?

The Thunderbolt 3 USB-C connection delivers 40 Gbps bandwidth and power delivery, so any certified Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C dock, monitor or drive works without extra adapters.

Will my existing DDR4 SODIMM modules work alongside the soldered memory?

The system ships with 24 GB DDR4 total — 8 GB soldered plus a 16 GB module in the single SO-DIMM slot — so an additional DDR4 stick would replace the removable one rather than add to it.
