It ships new with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and a 1920 x 1080 IPS matte display. A fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover support secure sign-in and privacy.

Who this suits and who it does not

This suits professionals who need a lightweight MIL-SPEC tested chassis, Thunderbolt connectivity and a matte FHD screen for office work. It is not for buyers who want a touchscreen, a larger display or more internal storage than 128 GB.

Deciding specification — 128 GB SSD

The single specification that decides fit is the 128 GB SSD capacity. Confirm this provides enough space for your operating system, applications and active files before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop include the 128 GB SSD and 12 GB DDR4 memory pre-installed?

Yes, the ThinkPad T480s ships with a 128 GB SSD and 12 GB of DDR4 memory already installed, so no extra storage or RAM modules are required to start working.

Will my existing Bluetooth 4.1 peripherals pair with this system?

The built-in Bluetooth 4.1 radio is backward compatible, so keyboards, mice and headsets using the same or earlier Bluetooth versions will connect without additional adapters.

How can I verify the Thunderbolt 3 port is active after setup?

Connect a Thunderbolt 3 device; the port supports up to 40 Gbps data and dual 4K video, and the connected device should appear in Device Manager under Thunderbolt controllers.
