Business-ready laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0" business laptop built for professionals who need a durable, secure Windows 10 Pro machine with integrated 4G LTE connectivity. It combines an Intel Core i5-8250U processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 180GB SSD in a lightweight chassis tested to 21 MIL-SPEC standards.

Build integration

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C provides 40 Gbps data and video bandwidth while supplying power, reducing the number of cables and adapters required at a desk. The match-on-chip fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover handle biometric login and privacy without extra peripherals, and the 4G LTE WWAN module keeps the system online away from Wi-Fi.

Upgrade perspective

Moving from an older ultrabook with 8GB RAM and a spinning drive, the 16GB DDR4 and 180GB SSD deliver a clear responsiveness jump for multitasking and boot times. Buyers who need larger local storage or a dedicated GPU for creative workloads will find this configuration limiting.

Questions about this item

How long does the 180 GB SSD keep write speeds up during a big file transfer?

The 180 GB SSD has no DRAM cache, so sustained writes drop to the native NAND rate once the SLC buffer fills.

Does the i5-8250U fan spin loud when the 1.60 GHz base clock holds steady all day?

The single fan stays near idle at 1.60 GHz; it ramps only when Turbo lifts the chip toward 3.4 GHz for more than a few seconds.

Which dock connector do I already need on my desk to drive two 1080p monitors and charge the 14.0" unit?

A Thunderbolt 3 dock plugged into the USB-C port supplies 40 Gbps bandwidth, dual DisplayPort video and up to 60 W power delivery.
