ThinkPad T480s i7-8550U 24GB 1TB

This Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor. It comes with 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 1920 x 1080 IPS matte display, fingerprint reader and 4G LTE WWAN complete a portable package for professionals who need secure productivity on the move.

Best for mobile workers needing WWAN and biometrics

The integrated WWAN and match-on-chip fingerprint reader suit users who work from multiple locations and require hardware authentication without carrying extra dongles. The non-touch matte screen and 2.9 lbs upper weight limit favour frequent travel over desk-bound media consumption. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a dedicated graphics chip or a newer Windows licence should look elsewhere.

Deciding spec: 24 GB DDR4 soldered and slot memory

The 24 GB configuration combines soldered and removable DDR4 modules, so total capacity is fixed at purchase and cannot be expanded beyond this figure. Confirm that 24 GB meets your workload ceiling before ordering, because no further memory upgrades are possible.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 24GB DDR4 memory and what step is often missed?

The 24GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-upgradable; the step people miss is checking the single SO-DIMM slot before buying extra sticks.

What maintenance will the 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD need later?

No mechanical maintenance is required; keep firmware updated and monitor SMART health via Windows tools.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the i7-8550U?

Thermal throttling at 4.0GHz turbo is the first limit; the slim chassis cannot dissipate heat indefinitely.
