Business ultraportable with Windows 7 Pro

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor with a base clock of 1.80 GHz and a turbo frequency up to 4.0 GHz. It comes equipped with 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB SATA M.2 solid-state drive. The 14.0-inch IPS display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution with a matte anti-glare finish. The unit ships with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit pre-installed and weighs between 2 and 2.9 lbs.

Suited for legacy Windows 7 environments

This configuration targets organisations that still depend on Windows 7 Professional for certified applications or specific driver stacks. The 24 GB memory and large SATA SSD support heavy multitasking and local data sets. Buyers who need a newer operating system, a touchscreen, or Thunderbolt 3 connectivity should look elsewhere because this unit lacks those features.

SATA M.2 SSD dictates storage speed

The 2 TB drive uses the SATA interface on an M.2 form factor, so sequential throughput is limited to SATA speeds rather than faster PCIe alternatives. This single specification determines whether the storage performance meets the workload requirements.

Questions about this item

How does the 4.0 GHz turbo speed of the i7-8550U behave in daily workloads?

The quad-core processor can reach 4.0 GHz on short bursts, while sustained tasks run at lower clocks limited by thermal headroom.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port at 40 Gbps actually let me connect?

It supports up to two 4K displays, external GPUs and fast storage through a single USB-C connector while delivering power.

Will the 24 GB DDR4 memory and 2TB SATA SSD fit inside the standard T480s chassis?

Yes, the board has soldered and slotted DDR4 plus an M.2 2280 SATA slot, so the listed configuration is the factory maximum.
