Business ultraportable for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s combines an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe SSD. A 14.0" IPS touch display at 1920 x 1080 resolution supports direct interaction. Integrated 4G LTE WWAN and Bluetooth 4.1 keep the system connected away from Wi-Fi.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 8th generation Intel Core i7-8650U reaches 4.20 GHz maximum turbo frequency for burst performance. MIL-SPEC testing across 21 criteria validates reliability under continuous operation in harsh environments. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics handle routine visual tasks without discrete GPU thermal load.

Thunderbolt 3 practical limits

A single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port delivers up to 40 Gbps bandwidth for data and video. This enables dual 4K or single 5K external display support through one connection. The interface also supplies power to attached peripherals while maintaining full PCIe and DisplayPort throughput.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-8650U get when the ThinkPad T480s runs all day?

The 14" IPS touchscreen model passes 21 MIL-SPEC tests for reliability in harsh conditions, so thermals and fan noise stay controlled during extended workloads.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port on this T480s?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock with a USB-C connector is required to reach 40 Gbps data, dual-video bandwidth and power delivery through the single port.

Will my older USB-A peripherals work with the four USB ports on this T480s?

Yes, the four USB ports accept standard USB-A plugs, so existing mice, keyboards, drives and dongles connect without adapters.
